The Polegression Concept
Developed by Boston Pole Fitness owner, Stacy Hamilton, Polegression is a step-by-step, sequential workout program that begins with learning basic pole movements to help strengthen muscles so that each student will be able to learn advanced pole movements in a safe and controlled environment. Polegression is applied to our pole programs so our students will be able to learn pole technique regardless of fitness level. Polegression techniques guide students in learning the art of the pole at a faster pace while getting a higher quality workout.
What to Wear
Traction is needed to maximize your pole workout, so please wear SHORTS and NO body lotions!
An introductory class that is required for all new students. Each student will learn hand/grip technique, pole terms, and basic pole form. There is no limit to the amount of classes required. Every student will learn at a different pace (we recommend taking the class 3-5 times). If you feel comfortable with the class movements, please feel free to move into Pole 101. Beginner.
Please take Pole Virgins 3-5 times prior enrolling in Pole 101. You must know how to do basic spins and basic mounting/climbing. In this class we will take the basics you have learned in Pole Virgins and will begin creating simple combinations and sequences with them. We suggest taking your 101 classes with multiple instructors. Every instructor has their own style, so each instructor’s Pole 101 class will be different. High Beginner.
Please take at least 3-5 Beginner Inversions classes prior to enrolling in this class. You must know how to climb, invert, and do an outside leg hang. In this class you will learn other climbing techniques, more advanced spins, and transitions between movements. High Beginner & Intermediate.
Ready to take your pole journey to the next level of strength and grace? In this class, you will learn more challenging inversions, holds, and spins. You will be working on aerial moves and putting them together in combinations without returning to the floor, more intermediate/advanced tricks, and handsprings. Pole 102 (High Beginner & Intermediate) classes are required prior to enrolling to Pole 103. You must be able to do an aerial invert and hold an extended butterfly.
Ease Into Pole
For those who haven’t done exercise for a while, recently had a child or are just a bit doubtful about joining a class where everyone seems to have more experience than you do: join us! Pole fitness is a full body workout, in which you will regain core strength, increase your upper body strength, and generally will get stronger and fitter, while dancing and having fun. After a warming up and a series of exercises that will increase your core strength and will warm up your body properly, we’ll teach you the foundations of pole fitness, including some spins and dance moves. No prior experience required.
Pole Stretch & Balance
This class focuses on flexibility and balance. It consists of a variety of stretches, both on and off the pole, to help develop strength and agility to improve your ability to achieve splits, back bends, forearm stands and hand stands, as well as more advanced pole
moves. All levels welcomed.
Pole Circuit & Flexibility
A strength and conditioning class that uses the pole for an intense workout that will tone, tighten and transform your body. A great class to take as a perquisite for learning more advanced movements. This class applies Pole 101 movements into an exercise form, so it’s a great class to take if you want to master beginner movements, while increasing your pole strength. All levels welcomed.
Inverts and Pole Power
You are comfortable with your spins, and going upside down, and love power moves? Join us! We’ll work on increasing your core and upper body strength, and practice those moves that require this strength. For this class you need to be able to invert comfortably and be able to do an outside leg hang. High Beginner & Intermediate.
In this class we will build strength and go over proper techniques to do the “big” dynamic and hardcore strength moves you’ve been lusting after. You will learn proper body movement to master these tricks safely and take your pole repertoire to the next level. The last week of each month will be a handsprings and shoulder mount clinic where you can troubleshoot these tough but fundamental moves, and learn advancements and progressions from them. Modifications and variations will be offered, but it is recommended that you come to this class with a solid invert (from the ground) and can hold a butterfly (regular or extended). Intermediate and Advanced.
An open-format class for students to practice and learn with supervision and individual instruction from a teacher. A great class for any student looking to master specific movements, work on technical skills, and form. This class helps develop strength in order to ‘pole-gress!’ This is a self guided class, so you will want to have some pole movements under your belt before taking this class. Pole 101 is a requirement before taking this class. All levels welcomed.
This class is designed for beginner students to help them find their flow as their strength develop in Pole Virgins and 101. Students will build skills to incorporate fluidity and sensual movement into their pole form. A routine will be taught in each class containing floorwork, transition moves and techniques to inspire students to get creative and sexy with their flow. Kneepads highly recommended, stilettos welcomed! Beginner.
Ladies, you asked for it, so here it is! Bring in your favorite pair of heels and leg warmers. Get ready show off your sexiness. This class will focus on creativity, floor work and club moves. A fun time for women looking to dance like a pro. Heels are optional.
High Beginner & Intermediate.
Open Pole Practice
This is 75 minutes of uninstructed pole practice time. Come in and hook up your music and let loose, rehearse a routine, or just practice. An employee will be on hand to check you in, and in case of injury.
Prerequisite Notes: Please note that a drop in rate is $10. If you have a current 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 month Unlimited monthly membership this is free. All levels welcomed.
AERIAL (SILKS/LYRA) CLASSES
This beginner class will get you comfortable on the silks. This class will focus on climbing, flexibility and beginner poses. All levels welcomed.
This is the next step after taking Silks 101. This class will focus on more advanced poses, different climbing techniques, flexibility and strength training, and exercises that will help you achieve inversions. Silks 101 is recommended prior to enrollment.
High Beginner & Intermediate.
Silks Conditioning & Fundamentals
This class will focus on conditioning our circus muscles and improving flexibility. Utilizing both floor exercises and the apparatus, we’ll work towards perfecting and building on fundamental movements. Whether new to aerials or looking to sharpen your skills, this class will give you the tools needed to reach new heights.
All levels welcomed.
Silks Sequence Building
Improv and fluidity will be the focus of this class, as students will learn how to choreograph a short sequence. Silks 101 & 102 are required before taking this class.
High Beginner & Intermediate.
An introductory class that is required for all new lyra/aerial hoop students. Each student will learn hand grip, basic mounts, dismounts, and beginner lyra vocabulary and poses. We recommend taking at least 3-5 sessions of this class before moving up to lyra 101. Each student will learn at a different pace, so if you feel comfortable with the movements presented in this class, feel free to move up to Lyra 101. Beginner.
This class will build on the basic movements learned in Lyra Fundamentals with a focus on technique, vocabulary, and strength building required to learn new poses and link them into simple combinations. High Beginner.
This class will review movements taught in Lyra 101, but will introduce more advanced variations and poses, while learning at a faster pace. Lyra 101 is required for this class. High Beginner & Intermediate.
Improv and fluidity will be the focus of this class, as students will learn how to choreograph a short sequence. Lyra 101 & 102 are required before taking this class.
High Beginner & Intermediate.
BEYOND POLE & AERIAL
Handstands and Walkovers
This class will focus on developing the strength, flexibility, and technique to perform handstands, backbends, front and back walkovers, and variations on these moves. Add a little flare to the floor portion of your pole or aerial routine! All levels welcomed.
Traditional Pilates Mat focuses on moving through the core, with stretching and strengthening as part of the flow of exercises.
Improve strength, balance, and coordination with Pilates Mat. Low impact but effective exercises for a calm approach to improving your overall fitness. All levels welcomed.
